Order of Kush-Nigeria

For people who are passionate about learning and about Africa

About the Order of Kush

The Order of Kush is an educational and humanitarian organization fighting global illiteracy and poverty.   They place special emphasis on improving the quality of life of all Africans, because when Africans "wake up" to their potential as a united people the faster they will overcome the social ills that have plagued them for so long.   This includes African Americans, Afro-Canadians, Afro-Caribbeans -- all people of African ancestry.

The Order of Kush is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) honor society headquartered in Chicago, IL. The organization is governed by a distinguished board of international scholars, who set policy, approve budgets, and manage the overall operation. They are assisted by an unpaid group of volunteers. Kush Nigeria was formally launched in January 2009 at a very colourful ceremony attended by 35 persons and was held at the NEECSI Conference Hall in Jos, Nigeria.

Kush was a civilization centered in the Sub Saharan Africa region of Nubia, located in what is today northern Sudan.  Kush attained its greatest power and cultural energy between 1700 and 1500 BC during the Third Intermediate period in Egypt.
